Girl Hit By Stray Bullet Likely To Survive

Authorities say an 11-year-old New Jersey girl hit in the face by a stray bullet when someone started shooting into her home last weekend should fully recover from her injuries.

The girl, whose name was not disclosed, was cleaning her room when she was shot Sunday night. She remained hospitalized Tuesday afternoon in critical but stable condition, but city police say she's showing some signs of progress.

Authorities say the shooting was drug-related and that another person inside the Asbury Park home was the intended target. But they have declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting. And it's still not clear how many people may have been involved.
