Repair work continues on an underground parking garage that collapsed one year ago on Saturday.
More than 300 residents of the Prospect Towers apartment building in Hackensack were displaced after a 20-foot-long steel and Plexiglas canopy near the entrance fell and two floors of the garage caved in on July 16, 2010.
No one was injured.
City Manager Stephen Lo Iacono told The Record newspaper city engineers have approved the structure of the three level parking deck. However, a certificate of occupancy still needs to be issued for the upper floors of the garage.
The cause of the collapse has not been disclosed.
