Wayne Residents Evacuated Again

MY9TV.com - In Wayne, the Passaic River is rising
Forcing many people to flee their homes for a 2nd time.
The new round of rain even led to some rescues.
Christine Persichette has that story.

The Colaku family finally on dry land- thanks to the Wayne Marine Unit. With 3 children including an infant- they couldn't escape their drowning home..
Fitnet Colaku says: "I don't want to stay here anymore- these houses one day they're going to collapse down- this is crazy."
Others walked through what we're told is 4 to 5 feet of water in some places here on Ryerson Avenue. Mounds of garbage piled up on the street-- now floating away. Lisa Biamonte left her home and- for most of the week- has been sleeping in her car with her 3 kids..

Lisa Biamonte says: "There was nowhere to go- no shelters or nothing- they told me to go to Sparta and you couldn't go nowhere the roads were blocked."
Tonight- she plans to grab the kids' pillows and blankets and go to a shelter that the town finally opened. Earlier today- she brought her older kids to school. Many people in this flooded area did- hoping their children will have a sense of normalcy- even though their world has been turned upside down..Parent Rachael Jopling says: "I had to go out and get her some more school clothes that I can't afford but I had to do what I had to do.."
John Lynch says his children lost 70% of their possessions after 9 feet of water overtook his home. He says the town wasn't prepared for this-- and he told us what the mayor told him.."His advice is to sell your house- it's not gonna get any better.."We tried to talk to the mayor today- but were told he was unavailable because his own house is underwater.
