MY9TV.COM - Looks like hurricane Irene is being blamed yet again.
Now it's for ruining the first day of school!
A Newark school has shut it's doors after flood damage.
Zack Fink is in the newsroom with the details.

Anabela Salva says she is furious at being notified just this past Saturday, that her son's first day of school would not be here where it was supposed to be.  She tells us, "I am upset about the arrangements, and the way they did it."

On Friday, testing revealed that mold spores were present at Wilson Avenue after flooding following Irene. As a result, some kids will be bussed to Bellville. Others, including Salva's son, will be taken to Quitman Street in Newark's central ward.

Salva fears, "It's far. All the parents are worried and I am worried about the distance. My kid's gonna get lost in travel. And the safety of course too."

Salva is not the only parent who expressed concern about children attending school at Quitman.

Parent, Maria Pires said, "The area is not safe to me. I don't care what anybody says, to me it's not a safe area. Even if they are going to be bussed in, to me it's still not safe."

The Wilson Avenue school in the city's ironbound section has had problems before. Zack Fin, The 10 O'Clock News.
