Halloween in New Jersey is posing some very real threats days after a fall storm dumped more than a foot of snow in parts of the state.

Trick-or-treaters face the prospect of dodging fallen trees and downed power lines that has left thousands without electricity. It may be days before utility crews restore service.

More than 30 schools are closed in central and northern New Jersey. About a handful have delayed opening.

New Jersey Transit says rail service is suspended on the Morris and Essex Lines, including Gladstone Branch, and Montclair-Boonton Line because of downed trees and overhead wires.

Buses in northern New Jersey may have to detour due to road conditions.
