MY9TV.com - Well, good news for Giants fans as a major call goes Big Blue's way. Once again the G-Men returned to the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale Arizona, the sight of their Super Bowl 42 victory and provided their supporters another come-from-behind victory.
Naturally, the win wasn't the impact of a Super Bowl victory but none the less it was full of the drama as only the Giants can provide.
This time, Victor Cruz's fumble that wasn't replaced, David Tyree's miracle catch.
After squandering a 10-6 half-time lead, the Giants entered the 4th quarter trailing the hometown Cardinals 20-10.
Both sides exchanged rushing touchdowns, the Giants' Brandon Jacobs from 1 yard out and and the Cardinals' Beanie Wells from 2 yards out to make the score 27-17 Cardinals, with just over 5 minutes remaining in the game.
The Giants would cut the deficit to 3 following a Jake Ballard 2 yard touchdown reception, making the score 27-24 Cardinals.
Following a strong Giants defensive stand the G-Men would get the ball back with just over 3 minutes remaining and that's where things got interesting.
Paterson New Jersey's own Victor Cruz, who came off a career best 2 touchdown game last week against the Eagles, was at the center of the controversy.
Cruz would take an Eli Manning pass 19 yards and after stumbling, just suddenly leave the ball on the ground. The Cardinals defense grabbed the ball claiming it was a fumble.
The play was somewhat reminiscent of the Eli Manning head-first slide against the Eagles a year ago. In that one, the Giants lost the ball and the game. Not this time,
Cruz had been touched 5 yards earlier and stumbled but was never touched after going down. After some review and an Arizona challenge that was not allowed by rule, it was deemed that Cruz had surrendered himself and thus no fumble.
A Giant-sized break because on the next play, Eli Manning finds Hakeem Nicks for a 29 yard catch and run touchdown play giving Big Blue a 31-27 victory.
The Giants record at the University of Phoenix Stadium improves to 3-0 and who knows what will happen next time they return?
