(EndPlay Staff Reports) - With the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania this Sunday, many websites are marking the observance of one of America's saddest moments.
Some websites offer visitors a chance to post memories of where they were on Sept. 11, 2001, and how they will be spending the 10th anniversary this Sunday.
A number of MyFox websites are hosting 9/11 tributes, in addition to new stories about a possible terrorist threat tied to the 10th anniversary:
The MyFox network's Facebook page lets the public post their thoughts related to the tragedy and the anniversary.
MyFox NY's page has the latest news on the tenth anniversary and also a tour of the World Trade Center construction.
MyFox Atlanta's page features separate tabs for recollections, the war on terror, events and more.
MyFox Detroit's "Remembering 9/11" offers many articles and videos related to the event, including "Understanding 9/11: A Television News Archive," "Port Authority Deputy Discusses 9/11 Memorial, Freedom Tower," and " 'Top Level' Security for Sports Stems From 9/11."
MyFox Orlando features a section titled "The Rise of Freedom" with stories and videos about various rebuilding and recovery after the attacks.
Other sites are also offer a chance to share and mark the day.
The interactive website, www.911.org , asks visitors to post their plans – a good deed, a moment of silence, charitable activity – in observance of the date.
As of Thursday, the site had more than 1,100 pages of its "tribute quilt." People who posted to the website wrote that they planned to spend time restoring a neighborhood park, volunteering in a local homeless shelter and even visiting Ground Zero for the first time, among other plans.
National Geographic offers visitors to its "Remembering 9/11" page an opportunity to share their thoughts and memories of that morning in 2001. The "Where Were You?" section helps users remember the moment by sharing what they were doing in the moment they first heard about the attack.
National Geographic has also launched a Facebook page for the memorial.
The education-focused website Edutopia.com listed resources that teachers, parents and school counselors can use as a means of helping their children understand the events of that day.
