There's No Room For You, Maddie Morrison
Dale Baumwoll is a sixth grade teacher at Randolph Middle School in New Jersey and sees boys and girls struggle with social acceptance and character development every year as she is presented with another group of wide-eyed adolescents. Each year she watches as they look for a place to fit in and gain self confidence. Frustrated from the lack of successful ways to help these children realize they are not alone in this struggle, Dale wrote a novel. Reading about the main character, Maddie Morrison, and her very real experiences in middle school, boys and girls will see that the need for acceptance is universal and that they are not alone. The American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society's urban and Asian initiatives created to
reach under-served, minority communities that often do not get the
medical treatment, including preventative care for cancer. The reasons
are endless, including lack of health insurance, lack of education,
language barriers, cultural beliefs that you don't see a doctor unless
you know something is wrong...but the results are the same--cancer
diagnoses at later, less treatable stages. Through the urban initiatives
in large cities throughout New Jersey including Newark, Paterson,
Morristown, Trenton, Asbury Park and Camden, as well as the Asian
Initiative throughout the state, the American Cancer Society has teamed
up with local community leaders to reach these communities with
education and screening programs in languages and formats that resonate
with them so we can save lives. For more information about these and
other American Cancer Society programs, call 1.800.ACS.2345 or log onto
