  1. Kurt Francis Says:

Are you kidding me? The guy is hitting .212 with 176 strikeouts. How will that help the Yankees? However, I would rather see him in a Yankees uniform that Barry Bonds.

  2. Marianne B Says:

    Can he pitch?

  3. TheBabe Says:

  4. Andy Haspel Says:

He’s a good hitter against lefties, he won’t play against righties, and the Yankees got him for next to nothing. So why not?

  5. Kurt Francis Says:

Sorry Russ,I meant to put 176K’s per year

  6. Jeff Hunt Says:

Definitely a good pickup. A righty with power to take the place of Hideki, and we didn’t need to get rid of anyone. Let’s go Yankees!

  7. Chris M Says:

    Great move for the Yanks
Considering what they gave up to get him it’s not much of a gamble.
I was concerned they’d try and trade one of their good prospects which we don’t want to do.
    Nice Move!

  8. Tarikul Islam Says:

The way the yankees’ offense have been struggle this year, if he hits 15 to 20 homeruns and strikes out 100 times will be an improvement than the yankees’ offense in the first half. At the sametime, the yankees didn’t have to give up a player if sexons does not produce then we can release him.

  9. marvin cajuste Says:

yes i do i think hes can help them

  10. Denny Rotenberry Says:

Definitely, what a Pick-up that will help the Yankees down the stretch. Gives Giambi the rest he needs and provides a righty with power that is proven against Left handed Pitching. Now add some Pitching!!!

  11. Philip Michaels Says:

Sexson is a bad move! Not only will he strike-out all the time but he will be injured quite a bit and will end up a big disappointment just like he was in AZ & Seattle!

  12. Pete Hume Says:

Yes, Richie Sexson will be a great help for the Yankees. This has Scott Brosius written all over it.

  13. marvin cajuste Says:

yes i do think hes can help them win ball game
hank stein brenner and hal and cashman and joe giradi need to make a mopve to get a starting pitcher or pitching for the bombers

  14. Kenny Cieciuch Says:

He didn’t cost the Yankees much and he’s great against left handers. Why wouldn’t you take him? Whenever the Giambino needs a rest, he can step up and get a start.

  15. Kenny Cieciuch Says:

He didn’t cost the Yankees much and he’s great against left handers. Why wouldn’t you take him? Whenever the Giambino needs a rest, he can step up and play first.

  16. Michael Collings Says:

I don’t think it’s a bad acquisition, he can help us( hopefully ). I would like to see the Yankees get a bigger bat. Maybe Matt Holiday? I would like to see the Yankees make the playoffs, and they need to make a trade for someone. They may not make it there with the team they have now.

  17. Michael Ortiz Says:

I understand why the Yankees went out and got him but wouldn’t bringing back Bernie Williams made more sense…..

  18. Allan Marconi Says:

Yes. The Yankees need big hits….doubles , triples and home runs he can produce. There is no risk really as they can release him if he fails. Somehow the Yankee Mystique will fit him real well and he will rise to the occaission.

  19. rocky balsano Says:

This makes no sense at all.Seattle waited 2 years on this guy

  20. River Ave Guy Says:

My son says yes, I say no. Since he can’t pitch, I don’t get it. Oh well we’ll see!

  21. Franklyn Simmons Says:

Hello Ken and David in the yankee game announcers booth, from the Bahamas can you say Happy B-day to my son Devin who is 12 years old today I told him a lot of History is on his B-day Cones no hitter 99, Mattingly streak in 87 and he shares B-day with Joe Torre former manager and Nelson Mandela- if possible can you say hello around the 9th inning Thanks.

  22. Garrett Owen Says:

In my opinion this is a smart baseball pickup. There is absolutely no risk involved and could be something that helps us. We have a weakness against lefties and Richie Sexson has great numbers: .344BA, 5HR. Plus we won’t trade for a Matt Holliday type player, we want to keep our prospects.

  23. steve dolan Says:

Anything to spark theoffense is a good thing and the price was right !

  24. tommy nutsack Says:

This aquisition was ridiculous! And a team like the Yankees can’t afford to be made to look ridiculous!

  25. Jeff Winters Says:

Good move. The Yankees didn’t have to give up anyone and Sexson is a good fielder. I think he will pick up his average as a Yankee as seen in his first at bat. Can’t beat that. It also spells Giambi who can benefit from an occasional rest.

  26. michael cerullo Says:

Yes, just the fact that seatle will be picking up most of the tab, i think Cash made a good move to help the power situation since shelly didn’t work out. I think Kevin will straighten richie out. He already looks better tonight at the plate.

  27. Bobby Boner Says:

What were the Yankees thinking?Bring back Whitey Ford!!

  28. Clint Benjamin Says:

It seems as though he showed the Yankees how to hit with two outs..Nice going Richie. Great pickup.

  29. michael cerullo Says:

Seatle’s picking up the tab so i say good move. He already looks better at the plate tonight.

  30. BILL ELKIN Says:

OH YEA! WE DON’T NEED SANTANA AND WE DON’T NEED HARDEN. WITH KENNEDY, HUGHES AND PAVANO IN THE WINGS,A WASHED-UP, HAS BEEN FROM SEATTLE IS THE MISSING PIECE TO NUMBER 27!! START SPREADING THE NEWS… ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

  31. Stephen C Says:

Maybe now we can trade Betemit.

  32. gary hammer Says:

richie sexton? thats just what the yankees need is another automatic out in the lineup. the rookie left fielder, whatever his name is, AO, molina, AO and sexton, AO… automatic outs all. might as well let the pitcher bat.

  33. mr. alan kennedy kennedy Says:

some times you need a knuckle dragging leaf eater on your team that strikes out a ton. the yankees obviously gave up on their season by not pushing for a starting pitcher. moose isnt going to be as solid in the second half’; ponson please do i even have to comment;; rasner inning eater untill hughes comes back but how effective will he really be; joba is joba some days he’ll be lights out and other days dan giese will be coming in in the fourth because joba has control issues; andy is great lets just hope he doesn’t wear down as the dog days get longer. maybe pavano will come back and be the savior to make good on his horrible contract. hopefully when wang comes back its not to late. the yankees should be ashamed if they dont make the playoffs this year it will be a total disgrace to all of the previous yankee teams if they cant close out the stadium with dignity.

  34. Jeff Brown Says:

What were they thinkng? He got dropped from the worst seam in baseball?

  35. Brad Hirsch Says:

I think it was a good move for the money. The yanks have not been hitting this year and the starting pitching and bullpen have been great so I think it was a good move.

  36. Joseph Moyles Says:

This is a guy who;s proven himslef in the past, a former all-star, a 45 homerun hitter, at least he could perfomr on the yankess and provide some well needed offence and glove. Hes better then betemit.

  37. Paul Martin Says:

At a cost of $160,000, if the Yankees only use him against lefties, it is a good short term move. However, they MUST keep their options open and keep looking for another RBI man.

  38. Mike Greenberg Says:

The day he got released i turned to my son and said if they don’t pick him up I’m becoming a Met’s fan. The guy is an all-star who is is stuck on a last place team with no support. The guy hits lefties and is a perfect fit to fill in for Giambi when lefties come to down. And he is basically free to top it off!!!!

    Go Yankees!!!!

  39. mark Says:

I think that Richie Sexson was a very good aquisition because he helps the Yankees with one of their biggest weaknesses which is hitting left handed pitching and he will in my opinion give them at least 15 Home runs and that always helps.

  40. Peter Sarich Says:

i think this is a start. he can hit lefty pitchers like we need!! right now it does not hurt to pick anybody up! i no this question was if it was samart to pick up sexson but i have to say MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE!!! now thats the moose i grew to love out there!!

  41. Peter Sarich Says:

  42. andie thayer Says:

Can Sexton Coach or manage because that seems to be where the issues lie. The Yanks should have never given the boot to Tore! I want him back!
