Fenway ... The Place To Be ... For The
Rival-ry!
By Scott Stanford, My9 Sports Reporter/Anchor
Yankee fans, don't get mad at me when I say this, but Fenway Park is the place to watch the Red Sox take on the Bombers. Period! The end.
I mean, sure Yankee Stadium is the iconic building with all the history and heroics, but when it comes to the best rivalry in sports, the best place to be is Beantown.
Just walking around the ballpark during this last Yankees visit was a show in itself. You have all of the fun restaurants indoors and out, loaded mostly with Sox fans, but of course there are many New Yorkers sprinkled in
When you get on to Yawkey Way, the road is blocked off and filled with food vendors, shops, acrobats, clowns, jugglers on stilts, you name it. You just don't get that kind of entertainment and buzz outside of Yankee Stadium. Maybe when the new one opens that'll all change, but for now, no!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying, Boston fans are more fanatical than the Bombers faithful. I'm just saying that when these two teams get together, Fenway is the place. It's such a small, archaic venue with not a luxurious item in sight. But, it reminds me more of a movie set where you're waiting for Robert Redford to appear as Roy Hobbs in "The Natural". Naturally, this Roy Hobbs would be wearing pinstripes!
