TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie
says he plans to submit a new nominee this month to the state Supreme Court.
Christie said he was close to a decision Thursday on an interview on WENJ-AM
in Atlantic City.
The state Senate Judiciary Committee this year has rejected two Christie
nominees to fill the two vacancies on the court.
The Democrat-controlled Legislature wants Christie to nominate a Democrat to
one of the vacant seats.
But Christie says voters put him into office in 2009 knowing he would try to
make the court more conservative.
Christie is critical of the state's top court, which he and other
conservatives say makes law when it should only be interpreting
law.
