BLOOMSBURY, N.J. (AP) — Attempted murder charges have been filed against a northwestern New Jersey man who allegedly attacked his wife and adult daughter in the family's home last month before beating himself with a blunt object.
Bail was set at $250,000 for David Alonso of Bloomsbury. It wasn't known Saturday if he has retained a lawyer.
State police troopers responding to a 911 call found 50-year-old Debra Alonso, and 24-year-old Malery Alonso lying on the home's front lawn. The troopers were soon confronted by 48-year-old David Alonso, who struck himself in the head several times before being subdued.
Hunterdon County prosecutors say Alonso's wife and daughter were hospitalized for several weeks.
Authorities have not said what prompted the attacks, though relatives say David Alonso had suffered a head injury a few days earlier.
