TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Utility crews in New Jersey remain busy after severe thunderstorms broke the summer's latest heat wave.

Heavy rains, strong winds and hail ripped across the state Wednesday, downing trees and power lines.

Jersey Central Power and Light says little more than 3,000 homes and businesses remain without electricity. Most are in Warren County.

PSE&G and Atlantic City Electric have restored service to most customers who lost power during the storms.

The heat wave saw record temperatures in Newark and Atlantic City. Trenton tied its record of 100 degrees.
