DEPTFORD, N.J. (AP) — A driver has crashed into two
New Jersey State Police cars in an incident that led a trooper to fire a
gun.
State Police Maj. Gerald Lewis says it all began at about 9:20 a.m. Friday
when a trooper tried to pull over an erratic driver in a red Toyota on Route 55
in Deptford Township.
After trooper got out of the car, the driver backed into both him and his
cruiser before speeding off. The trooper was not seriously hurt.
Lewis said a second trooper tracked down the car at the Deptford Mall. Lewis
says the driver hit that trooper's car, too.
That trooper fired shots, Lewis said but is not believed to have hit
anyone.
All four occupants of the Toyota were arrested.
