(AP) — Police in Linwood have seen a sharp increase in applications for
gun permits in the wake of the shooting death of a local radio host.
No
arrests have been made in the shooting death of 47-year-old April
Kauffman, a businesswoman and radio show host who was known widely as an
advocate for military veterans.

that there were 15 requests for permits in May alone after Kauffman was
found fatally shot May 10 in the bedroom of her Linwood home.
Since her death, police say there have been a total of 59 applications through July.
Police say before May, there were four to nine requests a month.
They say requests for gun permit applications could double last year's totals.
