NEWARK, N.J.
(AP) — Legislative Democrats say a spokesman for Gov. Chris Christie
misstated what actions they had taken with regards to affordable housing
funds.
Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak had expressed
disappointment Friday over an appeals court ruling that the state
government could not seize money that towns had set aside for affordable
housing. Drewniak had added that legislative Democrats had crafted and
voted in favor of a state budget that included use of the funds.
Assembly
spokesman Tom Hester Jr. countered on Saturday that Democrats had
included budget language that prevented a raid on the funds, and passed a
bill giving towns more time to spend the money. Hester says Christie
line item vetoed the language and vetoed the bill.
Drewniak did not respond Saturday to a request for comment.
