WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (AP) — Four construction firms have been awarded contracts to widen lanes on stretch of the Garden State Parkway starting in October.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority approved the contracts totaling $330 million on Tuesday.

The firms will widen lanes and restore shoulders in the stretch between Wall and Toms River in a project expected to take three years.

Authorities tell the Asbury Park Press that the work will allow the speed limit in the area to be increased to 65 mph.
