ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. (AP) — A northern New Jersey
town has banned homeowners from renting their houses for less than six
months.
The Englewood Cliffs Council says it acted after receiving complaints from
neighbors about a man who periodically rented his home for $3,000 a week.
Council President Joseph Favaro tells The Record newspaper neighbors have
been screaming that the home on Snyder Road became a party house.
Owner Jude Bernard tells the newspaper neighbors never complained to him. The
39-year-old says he believes he was targeted because he's a single black
man.
Bernard says he'll comply with the ordinance.
