COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) —
Just days ago, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney stood with
newly minted running mate Paul Ryan and promised a campaign focused on
big ideas.
Since then, the GOP ticket has been anything but
positive. Romney and Ryan are lambasting President Barack Obama on
everything from Medicare to welfare to campaign tactics.
Romney now says Obama is running a campaign of "hatred." Obama's team called Romney "unhinged."
The
back and forth is the latest evidence of a strategy shift for Romney.
And it comes as national polls show his rival with a slight lead. Romney
is now trying to undermine the premise that Obama is the candidate of
hope and change.
