HILLSDALE, N.J.
(AP) — A string of violent thunderstorms slammed parts of New Jersey
with heavy rain and lightning and even hail Wednesday afternoon and
evening.
A man fishing at Takanassee Lake in Long Branch was
struck by lightning and roads throughout northern New Jersey were tied
up by fast-rising water.
Nickel-sized hail was reported in Highlands and Middletown.
Atlantic
Highland resident Tom Erickson told the Asbury Park Press that
Wednesday's deluge was the heaviest he has seen in the 28 years he's
lived in the area.
Roads affected by floods included Interstate 80 and Route 17 in Bergen County.
The condition of the lightning strike victim was not immediately available.
