HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — The ex-wife of a convicted New
Jersey police chief wants half his pension even if he's not entitled to
anything.
Former Hackensack Police Chief Ken Zisa will be sentenced for official
misconduct and insurance fraud on Thursday. A judge could decide that Zisa must
forfeit his pension, which would amount to an estimated $11,000 a month based on
his $191,000 salary.
His former wife, Mary McMorrow, says she's entitled to half under the divorce
settlement that was reached before the crimes were committed starting in
2004.
Pension law attorney Leonard Whitman tells The Record newspaper (http://bit.ly/SvKhGH ) McMorrow could get half
of nothing. But Whitman says she might be able to argue she had a contract if a
dollar amount was specified.
