BAYONNE, N.J. (AP) — Officials in a northern New
Jersey school district have lowered the passing grade from 70 to 65.
It's part of a three-year pilot program for Bayonne's 9,600 students.
School official Rosalie Moran tells The Jersey Journal (http://bit.ly/PdBgf4 ) a committee examined
other districts and found an effective grading policy should minimize failure
and reward the positive efforts of students.
Moran says success leads to more success.
