WAYNE, N.J. (AP) — Child endangerment charges were filed against a 28-year-old northern New Jersey mother who allegedly left her twin infants alone in her hot home for several hours.
Twenty-eight-year-old Dolly Santiago was arrested when she returned to her Wayne home Sunday night. She was being held Monday on $100,000 bail and it's not known if she has retained an attorney.
The Record (http://bit.ly/NS4A0d) reports that police went to Santiago's home Friday afternoon after two relatives who were there said they couldn't contact her. Officers forced their way in when they heard a baby crying.
The 8-month-old infants, a boy and a girl, were treated at a hospital and are now being cared for by a relative.
Authorities don't know why the children were left alone or where Santiago was over the weekend.
