NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey man accused of
sexually abusing a sleeping woman during a Newark-bound flight is due in court
for a bail hearing Tuesday.
Federal authorities say the woman awoke on the Aug. 20 flight from Phoenix to
find Bawer Aksal of North Bergen sexually abusing her with his hands inside her
blouse and shorts. The woman, who was seated next to him, did not know him.
Prosecutors are arguing Aksal should have high bail, saying he is a flight
risk as a Turkish national.
His court-appointed attorney says that isn't necessary.
