CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Authorities have charged an inmate with manslaughter in the death of a fellow inmate at a New Jersey prison.

Bail for 24-year-old Floyd Nichols of Paterson is set at $500,000.

Authorities say Nichols assaulted 23-year-old Joshua Jones inside a dorm at Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Clinton Township on Aug. 14. Jones died two days later.

Jones was convicted of possession of a handgun and distributing drugs in a school zone. He would have been eligible for parole in January.
