NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a letter carrier in New Jersey used her mail route to courier packages of cocaine for Puerto Rican drug traffickers.
Christina Nunez is charged with conspiracy with intent to distribute cocaine and mail theft.
The
30-year-old from Lyndhurst was appointed a public defender at an
initial appearance Tuesday in federal court in Newark. Bail was set at
$100,000 and she'll be subject to electronic monitoring.
Nunez's boyfriend also has been arrested and charged.
Federal
prosecutors say Nunez has been receiving packages of cocaine that were
sent to addresses along her route or to her home since October 2010.
Prosecutors say she would pass the drug on to co-conspirators in Camden.
