LAVALETTE, N.J. (AP) — A deluge of rain is responsible for road flooding along the New Jersey shore.
And forecasters say more is on the way.
Flash flood warnings have been lifted along the shore, but watches remain in effect through Wednesday evening for the southwestern part of the state.
The National Weather Service says 2 to 4 more inches may fall in those areas by the end of Wednesday.
The heaviest rains early Tuesday came in eastern Ocean and Burlington Counties where the National Weather Service says radar showed some spots got up to 8 inches.
On Route 35 in Lavallette and the Ortley Beach section of Toms River, flood waters were up to 3 feet deep Tuesday morning.
