WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey man is going to
jail under a tougher law aimed at keeping repeat drunken drivers off the
streets.
Robert Fredericks of Williamstown pleaded guilty on Monday to driving while
his license was suspended for ten years in 2008.
The 49-year-old will spend six months in the Gloucester County Jail when he's
sentenced under a plea agreement next month.
The law targeting repeat offenders mandates at least 180 days in jail without
parole.
Fredericks was stopped for speeding in Monroe Township in 2011, one month
after the tougher penalty took effect.
His license was suspended in 2008 for his fourth drunken driving
conviction.
