NEWARK, N.J.
(AP) — Police in Newark are searching for three unidentified men they
say shot and killed a city deli worker while attempting to rob his
family's store.
The Essex County prosecutor's office says two armed, masked suspects entered the deli on Clinton Avenue and demanded cash.
Police say 18-year-old Jamil Bader Jr. was fatally shot while trying to stop the robbery.
The three suspects fled the scene in a silver or gray 300 series BMW.
Bader was working in his family's corner store around 9:55 p.m. on Thursday when the shooting took place.
He was taken to Newark's University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:07 p.m.
Newark
Police Director Samuel DeMaio expressed dismay at Bader's killing and
is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspects.
