BURLINGTON CITY, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey police
officer has shot and killed a man that authorities say shot at the officer
first.
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office says a Burlington City officer was
on patrol near a car dealership just before midnight Monday when he encountered,
then chased a suspicious man.
Authorities say the man fired at the officer, but missed. The officer
returned fire and killed the man.
The officer, whose name has not been released, has been put on administrative
leave. He was evaluated and released from a hospital Tuesday.
Authorities say they have not confirmed the identity of the suspect.
The prosecutor's office is reviewing whether the proper amount of force was
used.
