TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey lawmakers are trying
again to pass a health insurance exchange that's required by a 2010 federal
health care overhaul.
A state Senate committee is scheduled to discuss the matter Monday. The
exchanges are intended to give uninsured people a way to buy private health
insurance
Gov. Chris Christie has been reticent to support the measure. He vetoed a
health insurance exchange bill in May, saying he wanted to wait to see if the
U.S. Supreme Court found the law, often referred to as "Obamacare," to be
constitutional.
The court eventually upheld most of the law.
In July, Christie said he wanted to consider all the state's options,
including letting the federal government set up New Jersey's
exchange.
