HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — Prosecutors say a northern New Jersey woman extorted money from a former co-worker to stay quiet about their romantic relationship.
Twenty-four-year-old Sarah McAllister of Ridgefield and 26-year-old John DiCiancia of Lodi were arrested Monday at a Little Ferry motel, where they allegedly tried to collect cash from the male victim.
Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says McAllister and the victim had a relationship while working together at an Upper Saddle River business. It continued after she left the company.
Molinelli says McAllister began demanding money to keep the relationship a secret. Her demands soon escalated, and she DiCiancia became involved in obtaining the cash.
DiCiancia and McAllister were both charged with extortion and were each being held Tuesday on $50,000 bail. It's not known if either had retained an attorney
