HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — Authorities have made an arrest in the slaying of an East Rutherford woman whose body was found inside her burning home.

The Bergen County prosecutor will announce details during a news conference Thursday.

Authorities have said 70-year-old Barbara Vernieri died of blunt force trauma to her head and upper body. The widow, who lived alone, suffered the fatal injuries before the fire engulfed her home on Sept. 14.
