Monroe Man Admits Killing Landlady's Daughter

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — A central New Jersey man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing the daughter of his landlady who lived next door to him.

Warren Burkey of Monroe entered his plea in state Superior Court in New Brunswick Friday.

Burkey admitted taking two knives from the kitchen of Theresa Wysokowski and stabbing her multiple times in her home on May 7, 2010. Burkey lived next to Wysokowski, whose mother was his landlady.

Authorities say the 34-year-old Burkey had begun renting a room next door to Wysokowski about a month before the murder.

The 48-year-old married mother of three had recently become a grandmother.

Burkey is scheduled to be sentenced on November 27 and is expected to receive a term of 30 years without the possibility of parole.
