ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) — Two New Jersey men who robbed a
woman and her two young daughters at gunpoint have received lengthy prison
sentences.
Union County prosecutors say 46-year-old Andre Nance was sentenced to 60
years in prison, while 37-year-old Kenneth Banks received a 50-year term. The
two Newark men were convicted in May on charges of armed robbery, eluding and
weapons offenses.
Prosecutors say the pair approached the woman and her daughters in an
Elizabeth park in October 2009. Nance pointed a gun at one girl's stomach while
Banks took the girl's earrings out of her ears and the necklace from around her
neck as her mother begged them not to harm the child.
The men fled the scene in Banks' vehicle, but were soon captured after a high
speed police chase.
