HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — Opening arguments are expected Tuesday in the trial of a New York City bar owner accused of fatally shooting two friends who were found dead inside their SUV on a northern New Jersey street nearly three years ago.

Nicholas D. Kiriakakis of Richmond Hills faces two counts of murder in connection with the 2010 deaths of 28-year-old Jonathan Beneduce of Howard Beach and 27-year-old Michael Mirasola of Ozone Park.

The Record newspaper reports http://bit.ly/RS0BgV that authorities have said the killings were drug related, but haven't provided details.

The bodies of the two men were discovered inside a parked vehicle on a street in Teaneck.

The trial is in state Superior Court in Hackensack.

Kiriakakis remains free on $2 million bail. He's facing a maximum of two life sentences.
