The lights, the music, the bar: It looks like any other night club in New York, but it's much more. This is a hip, upscale social experience called Spin Galactic.
"Spin is a Ping-Pong social club where we encourage drinking, dancing and playing ping pong all under one roof," says Cassie Mead of Spin Galactic in New York City.
Whether you are looking for a quick something to do after work or a weekend outing, you don't have to do it hungry or thirsty.
"We have a full menu and a full bar and some specialty cocktails that are mixed by 'tea-ologists,'" she says. "And we're fusing tea and alcohol."
And don't worry. If you like to play a game of ping pong with your kids, Spin welcomes them too.
"We have a very mixed crowd that comes through the door," Mead says. "Saturdays and Sundays during the day -- a lot of families and a lot of young groups. Monday nights we have an open tournament where anyone can come along and play."
If you or the kids aren't quite as good at ping pong as, say, Forrest Gump or you need a little coaching, why not watch a match on Spin's center court or get free lessons from one of their world-class professional players?
"We have a host of Ping-Pong instructions who can offer instruction from beginning to advanced levels," Mead says. "Often times our pros will have some down time between giving lessons and its very frequent that they'll stop and give someone a little tip or a hint here and there on improving their game."
Spin Galactic New York is located on East 23rd Street.
