RIVER EDGE, N.J. (AP) — Bars have been closed in two
firehouses in northern New Jersey.
River Edge Fire Chief John Mauthe shut them down after a volunteer
firefighter was arrested Oct. 16 for driving under the influence.
Authorities tell The Record newspaper (http://bit.ly/QJEavK ) 50-year-old Joseph
Cerciello's car clipped a parked vehicle in the parking lot of Fire Company
(hash)1.
Mayor Sandy Moscaritolo tells the newspaper Cerciello did not have a drink
inside the firehouse the night of his arrest.
The action comes months after a female River Edge firefighter was arrested
for an alcohol-related offense.
